Design Rationale

I choose these particular images, because each one represents a part of me. The first picture I took in Florida and it represents a Japanese water style garden, which is a calming picture- and I thought it would be noticeable with different pixel resolutions.

The Japanese domed ceiling looked really different in different colors, and the color was so bright you could see the difference between the web copy and the printed copy.

The giraffee would fit the different orientations, because a giraffee is so tall that you can see it would look good in portrait as well as landscape. Plus it is my favorite animal!

The fountain was good for framing because it allowed me to focus on one certain aspect of the fountain, while portraying my love of water and aquatics.

The flowers were good for a abstract representation, because zooming out you can notice the picture does not focus on one particular flower, but a wide variety of colorful leaves and plants.

The picture of my boyfriend and I was one of my favorites because I had a lot of fun changing the different styles put into it- it changed the mood of the picture.

Font Poem

Rough Draft

So this is how I learned to complete this portion:

I learned to use the fill application to create a black background and found my favorite Vanessa Carlton song. Using the font tool on the upper right hand side of the Adobe Photoshop, I used the letter tool on the side scroll bar- and typed in different fonts that I thought fit the different words I decided to put in. I still couldn’t figure out how to move the letters or condense them though, but the “your” I double clicked on the level, and checked the outer glow box to give it a special effect. I also turned it pink (one of my favorite colors), even though I know we weren’t supposed to change it a color, I saved it before I changed it back.

The Final Draft

By clicking, EDIT- TRANSFORM, I learned how to rotate my words, scale and skew them at the same time. This made it a lot easier for me, and I added a few little more words to complete the poem, as well as adding special effects to the word “stars” and turning it yellow. On the bottom, just by changing the font letters, I learned to create a really cool effect. By stretching the letters out, I created even more special effects.
I was excited about the result of my poem.

Meaning of the Words:

This quote reminds me of not ever turning back from anything. It is all about sticking it out, because when something goes wrong in life, so many people question you- but the real trick is you have to believe in yourself. “I hold on to this life I’ve found.” Sometimes I question certain things: if I’m going into the right major, if I’m dating the right person, if I am doing the right thing. But really you have to believe in what you do. This is why I love this the quote so much.

I used different font types such as courier new, which is basic- Impact which really sticks out to me. Arial is kind of basic- but in my poem all it is doing is asking the question: “Who’s to say, we won’t sink in doubt?” I used Times New Roman because Trick is kind of a magic word- I thought the old fashioned style worked for it. I used Lucida Calligraphy for Stars because it worked with the shining outline like the star were shining.

I arranged “stand up straight” a little bit curved because I don’t think that any path in life is ever straight. I outlined “YOUR” because obviously the quote is about “you”. I spelt “TRICK” downwards because I thought it added almost a medieval setting. I turned “TURN” which is pretty obvious. I did a fade out on the “STARS” because stars might fade out, but they are always there.
